AliExpress is an huge Chinese market of the New York Stock Exchange listed company Alibaba. This IPO in October 2014 was covered extensively in the news, so you've probably already heard of AliExpress!
You can compare the Chinese marketplace AliExpress with companies like Amazon or eBay: Chinese sellers offer their products through this Chinese platform and then ship them all over the world. You will find deeply discounted electronics, Chinese smartphones (which are excellent compared to their Western alternatives!) and of course lots of clothing. AliExpress offers in total nearly 100 million products which are categorized in 5900 product categories. Search and find a specific product can be a challenge though...
And exactly that’s what we’re good at! ChooseChinese.com shows you the full range of AliExpress products, neatly arranged by category and keyword. As an added benefit we compare AliExpress’ supply with the offer of other Chinese marketplaces. Hence at ChooseChinese you can compare on aspects such as delivery time, payment methods and reliability before making a purchase.
Ordering on AliExpress
Through extensive product categories or a general search you will eventually end on a product page. There are some special things that you we recommend you take a closer look at before placing an order:
1.The AliExpress Seller rating
On each product page you can find a seller rating. This is the average rating that previous customers awarded the seller after the completion of their order. The lowest rating is a single medal, which builds on to diamonds to the highest possible rating: 5 blue crowns. Vendors with the highest rating have completed a minimum of 400,000 orders to the satisfaction of their customers.
In addition to the seller rating, this is a good aspect to keep in mind: If ‘buyer protection’ is offered, you have the guarantee of AliExpress that when the products ordered have not arrived or do not meet the specified description, you will get back your full purchase amount. The order process at AliExpress makes sure that after you paid for an order, it will take up to 60 days before AliXpress pays your money to the seller of the product you purchased. Until then, you have the option to appeal against this disbursement.
On any product offered on AliExpress, the seller ensures a specified delivery time. This guaranteed delivery times in our experience is often much longer than the actual delivery time. For most countries you should take into consideration a delivery time of approximately 21 days via China Post is used.
4.Contact the seller
A very useful feature on AliExpress is a simple contact form that allows you to ask the questions directly to the seller. Use this option if you are unsure about your purchase or the seller. AliExpress' sellers who have their act together will usually respond quickly to your questions.
Benefits of AliExpress
Buying on AliExpress has several advantages: A huge range of products, very low prices (see here for example a dress that you buy for just 8 dollars.) And AliExpress has a good system to protect the buyer against rogue vendors.
A disadvantage is the limited number of payment methods, see the following section.
Paying on AliExpress
AliExpress provides a limited range of payment options of which credit card payment is the most obvious. Credit cards Mastercard, Visa and Maestro are accepted. American Express is unfortunately not accepted. For Russian customers mainly, Yandex.Money is offered. Just as WebMoney and AliExpress' own payment method: Alipay. Here we have included a page about Alipay on ChooseChinese. [link]
